A friend of mine wants to run a favorites game during the period of the Greek City States. If you have a character that has survived any game you have played before and they are no lower than 6th gen, you may play them. The other option is making a new character with points based off the average of all the XP in game. If you are interested, I'll pass it along. He doesn't want to interfere with the friday or saturday games and will run it at Tate's if they allow or here in Lake Worth. So if you would like to play, please let me hear your thoughts and I will pass it on to him. He doesn't have internet right now otherwise you could pass it along yourselves I guess.

That sounds sweet mainly because I'd never played something to that extent.
So, yeah, put me down as a tentative only because I am limited in free time due to work.

Yea, this coming up Saturday.

I do have a character in mind... who survived the game she was in (mostly cause damned infernalists decided to make the mute malkavian blind out of spite), so she basically had to stay home for the big battle. (I NPCed a Garou Razz)

The problem is... I have really no way to get her character sheet. Would we be able to remake them based on whatever XP total you guys gave us? (I remember her gen and certain things like that.)

Greek city states...cool. Though my character that comes to mind, like most all of my characters, is a Tremere. Which does not match up of course. Can always make something new though.

The main question is when though. Starting in September, my gaming schedule will be restricted a bit more, unless we were to play in Lake Worth. That I could easily do during the weekdays.

Holy Cheese Balls, Batman!

It seems like a power gamer's wet dream! I guess you're friend's game is for mega-vamps? Err... I am still learning how to play on a normal level, so count me out.

You don't have to play, and I would appreciate it if you didn't just refer to high level games as power gaming. I know your still new and all, but just because someone has played in a long going chronicle and survived does not classify them as "powwr gamers". Second when an ST allows this level of play, there is a reason behind it. If you've ever played in a favorites game, you'de understand.

I haven’t been playing long enough to have a character to become a favorite, to even participate in a favorite game. When I think "high level" I relate back to what I know. There is a convention game session for DnD called the "Cheese Grinder" where high-level PC's are put through their paces, and the survivors are graduated to the next round. The party that survives the longest, wins. So I am not pooh-poohing your friend's game, but making a relation to my prior knowledge that the more powerful the character, the nastier the game gets. Furthermore, with more stuff the uber pc can do, you need to know the rules, game mechanics, and powers. I lack this training, so it would be like me trying to drive a Mac Truck.

If you wish to enlighten me on how a larp game works with such high caliber PCs, please do.

WHile yes the power level is higher, it is a setting where the only law is the law of the strongest. Princes still claim domain and the masquerade is a guidline. In this particular game setting, vampires are the truth behind the myths and greek legends. Hades might be a Cappodocian for example. The city states are the domains of individual vampires and while I don't have all the info, I think they will be a big part of the game. If you want to learn, the best way is through experience. Make a character and come in with some people. The only way to survive favorites games is with good friends that have your back. Solo and expect to fail...unless you are really sneaky and have a twinked out character sheet. Character that are low on the totem pole might be pleasently surprised to see some additions added to their sheets when they get them back.

Something that should be noted, higher power levels, don't mean shit. A stake to the heart, is still a stake to the heart.

Ah, thank you. I guess it's not so much as quantity, but more so, quality.

Games of this level of power is what makes gaming fun as it make everyone a power house so deal and roleplay become paramount.
That's at least what I learned when there used to be a game at the Kitchen/Church.

No offense to anyone in particular here, but I would not play in a game of that power level down here. Yes, logic dictates it should become more RP based, but it won't. If we give everyone a Nuke, people are going to launch it. There are no barriers to combat that will hold up when you hand someone that kind of firepower.

I would much rather see what happens if everyone is forced to make neonate characters. Because seeing people without every tool in their toolbox would be far more interesting to me.

Power gaming is just not fun to me, and the concept of winning larp by being the most powerful really isn't that fun. Some people thrive on it. I am not one of them.

The thing is... the lowest gen I have to pick from is 11th, I believe... so my favorite character wouldn't be a low-gen powerhouse, but I love her so much, I just might play her that way, even though she only has about 75 xp, because it was a school-year game.
